Air Fryer Cauliflower Gnocchi

Easy Air Fryer Cauliflower Gnocchi

When Trader Joe’s announced cauliflower gnocchi for the first time it quickly became a fan favorite. A low-cal, low-carb way to indulge in comfort food? No wonder bags of this stuff went flying off of shelves. If you’re looking for gluten-free gnocchi this has you covered as well.

As someone who hates the taste of cauliflower, let me attest that even I love Trader Joe’s cauliflower gnocchi. But whether this dish will flaunt or flop at your dinner table depends on something more crucial than each person’s baseline level of tolerance for cauliflower — how it’s cooked.

Easy Air Fryer Cauliflower Gnocchi

Properly cooking cauliflower gnocchi mean the difference between a plate of inedible mush or a warm bowl of crispy goodness. I know this from experience. After trying several cooking methods for it, I declare air fryer cauliflower gnocchi the winner.

Air fryer cauliflower gnocchi offers several benefits that other cooking methods don’t. For one, you don’t add calories with the heaps of oil required to get stovetop cauliflower gnocchi to come out crispy. And, you don’t deal with the gnocchi sticking as much as you do when baking in the oven.

I have this Nuwave Air Fryer and love it, though I could do without the loud beeping sounds of the buttons! It’s a 6 qt and is the perfect size for someone living on their own or with a partner.

The best way to cook Trader Joe's famous cauliflower gnocchi is in the air fryer, for optimal crisp. This low-carb, low-calorie and gluten-free gnocchi is the perfect way to indulge in comfort food guilt-free!

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 20 minutes 15 seconds
Total Time 30 minutes 15 seconds

Ingredients

  • 0-calorie spray oil (I use canola)
  • Trader Joes' Cauliflower Gnocchi

Instructions

  1. Thaw Trader Joe's Cauliflower Gnocchi for at least 10 minutes or until you're able to break the pieces apart from each other. They do not need to be fully defrosted.
  2. Pre-heat your air fryer (if required). Set the temperature at 400 degrees and timer to 20 minutes.
  3. Spray the air fryer basket with oil and pour in all the gnocchi. Spray the gnocchi with oil as well and shake basket so they are spread evenly within.
  4. Start the air fryer. After 10 minutes, pull out and shake the basket so that the gnocchi have a chance to reposition. Continue air frying.
  5. After another 5 minutes, pull out and shake basket again. If you are satisfied with the brownness and crisp by this point then you are done. Or, air fry for the final 5 minutes for added crisp.
  6. When done, allow to cool before serving. Serve as tots with a dipping sauce, or pair with a homemade sauce like this crock pot bolognese by Skinnytaste.

Notes

If you use only half the packet or if you thaw gnocchi completely before air frying, your cook time will be less. Check on the gnocchi at 5-6 minute intervals to prevent burning.
