Building Your Seattle Itinerary: 7 Things You Must Do in Seattle, Washington

Take in the View from Kerry Park

To capture the iconic skyline, head to Kerry Park. The overlook is in a gorgeous neighborhood and you can capture views of the skyline on one side, Elliot Bay on the other.

If you can make it for sunrise or sunset, even better.

Pro Tip: Acclaimed Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream shop is within walking distance. Plan into your Seattle itinerary to swing by before or after you visit Kerry Park.

Visit the Iconic Seattle Space Needle

If you’re heading to Seattle, you likely have this landmark on your itinerary. If you’re worried it may be overrated, I’ll tell you I didn’t think so. The observation deck offers sweeping views of the city, and comes equipped with a bar and coffee shop. You even receive a complimentary photo via email.

Buy your tickets here, in advance, to avoid the lines. As of summer 2018, the Seattle Space Needle has been renovated making for an even more beautiful experience! But, if you’re not convinced this is worth a stop, check out the Smith Tower instead for drinks with a view.

Admire the Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum

Barely a stone’s throw from the Space Needle sits the Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum. I highly recommend it and you can purchase joint tickets for both the Space Needle and the museum.

Spend an hour or two admiring Dale Chihuly’s intricate works of glass art, and snap a money shot of the Seattle Space Needle from the museum’s glasshouse.

Wander Through Pike Place Market

This iconic market is a must-visit and definitely belongs on your Seattle itinerary. Plan to spend at least an hour or two strolling through the stalls, chatting with vendors, sampling local treats and soaking in the energy of this vibrant community.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed at the prospect of hundreds of vendors, check out our top recommendations of stops to make there, including Pike Place Market must eats.

Another way to explore Seattle’s Pike Place Market? With a guide, of course! I’m a big fan of market food tours and Seattle has several to choose from, like this one with great reviews:

Eat at The Pink Door

Down Post Alley in Seattle’s Pike Place Market is The Pink Door, a swanky, Italian-American restaurant and cabaret lounge. During the day, stop in for a drink on their trendy outdoor patio. Or, make dinner reservations and enjoy a nice night out. We went with the latter.

On the outside, all you see is a discreet pink door. Once inside, you’ll find an intimate, rustic space with hints of renaissance-era vibes. Every hour, there is some sort of entertainment for those seated indoors, such as a burlesque show or trapeze act.

The restaurant often has new talent audition during lunch time, and invites customer feedback. Of the Pike Place restaurants, this was a highlight deserving of a spot on your Seattle itinerary.

Drink at RGB

Seattle has its very own ginger beer — Rachel’s Ginger Beer. If you’re into that, you may want to swing by RGB on 12th Avenue to try one of their ginger beer flavors.

This particular location is a part of 12th Arts Avenue and contains two theaters, meaning you can make a night of it if you choose to go to a show.

Explore with Bill Spiedel’s Underground Tour

Traveling with a history buff? Add this tour to your itinerary. It takes you through the underground sidewalks of Seattle’s past that the current city is built on top of.

The tour guides are as cheesy as they would be anywhere else, and it’s an overall entertaining activity that’s great for families.

Allot at least a couple hours, as the tour lasts for about an hour and a half. Groups meet in Pioneer Place Park at Doc Maynard’s Public House. Pro Tip: You can bring your drink down with you for the tour kickoff, so don’t leave it behind when the guide first comes to get you.
